Optimi is looking for a detail-oriented and quality-driven individual with strong language and layout skills to join the Assessment Development team as a Language Copy-editor. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in language editing and document layout, with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS 

• Grade 12 / NQF 4.
• Relevant qualification in Language, Editing, Publishing, or related field (advantageous).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in language copy-editing and layout.
• Excellent proficiency in both English and Afrikaans (written and verbal).
• Strong computer literacy.
• Experience with document formatting, layout, and design.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Innovative thinking with the ability to improve layout and processes.

• Edit and reword content to ensure clarity and correct meaning.
• Ensure all texts comply with company style guides and standards.
• Maintain consistency in language, terminology, spelling, capitalisation, abbreviations, and numerical expressions.
• Ensure correct formatting, including typography, headings, page layout, tables, figures, and captions.
• Verify accuracy of dates, facts, references, quotations, and hyperlinks.
• Ensure alignment between study guides and facilitator guides, including answers to activities.
• Ensure Afrikaans and English versions correspond accurately.
• Check completeness and correctness of bibliographic references and copyright compliance.
• Review and adjust layouts, including text properties such as spacing, columns, and sizing.
• Edit and integrate graphics, tables, and images into documents.
• Ensure adherence to templates and provide input for improvements.
• Upload and manage final layout documents.
• Maintain overall quality standards of all assessments.
