Optimi is looking for a highly motivated Online School Educator with expertise in English Home Language and English First Additional Language (FET Phase) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate must be a passionate educator who thrives in a digital learning environment and is committed to empowering learners to reach their full potential.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Education (BEd) or PGCE in the relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience in the FET Phase, with at least 3 years teaching Grade 12 English HL/FAL.
- Proven online teaching experience (preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (including extended apps).
- Excellent command of English and Afrikaans.
- Stable internet connection and power backup.
DUTIES
- Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons for FET Phase learners in English HL and FAL.
- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson content that encourages active participation.
- Provide clear explanations and targeted support to learners facing challenges, including:
- Extra classes
- Intervention sessions
- Masterclasses
- Virtual meetings with learners and guardians
- Mark and moderate SBA components, analyse performance trends, and provide constructive feedback.
- Apply innovative teaching methods and uphold the highest academic standards.
- Provide educational and social guidance, referring learners to specialists where necessary.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and support teams to ensure learner well-being and academic success.
- Support the leadership team in implementing the school’s development plan.
- Participate in creating and presenting assessments, subject guidance sessions, and online learning programs.
- Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance and marks.
- Communicate proactively with guardians about attendance, progress, and outstanding work.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
- Manage day-to-day communication with learners, parents, and internal stakeholders.
- Research and integrate new trends, technologies, and products to enhance online learning.
- Engage in continuous professional development opportunities.
